Thanks , the mirror site works well. Nice August Issue. Ton and I visited
Chuquicamata with her sister Rene and her husband about five years ago. A
Blockbuster store in Calma just about blew our minds. keep up the good work Subject: FSC1954G4 R2L1 Date: Thu, 19 Aug 1999 17:24:38 -0700 From: "C. J. Olsen" Hola Charlie: This is the second grade and the year is 1953. The other photo that you have for these good looking kids, the one that is non-interactive, is the third grade and the year is 1954. I was very impressed by the way you guys presented the articles on May and the Foundation. Excellent work. Guess what! You have just received an animated greeting card from Ed Ton
You'll see the personal greeting by using the following Web location.
(Your greeting card will be available for the next 90 days) Subject: chilex weekly published by you on internet? Date: Mon, 30 Aug 1999 08:59:07 +0930 From: epm@octa4.net.au To: While I was in the USA recently, was told that a page had been published by you on the internet containing Chuquicamata news and I have been unsuccessful in trying to locate it. If you are the party (or if it has been published by one of your brothers) please let me know how I can access it. My interest in news from Chuquicamata is because I was born and lived there - many years ago. Please acknowledge this message if you are not the party I think you are, that is Clarence Fisk who lived in Chuquicamata and has recently released a chilex weekly version on the internet. Thank you for your attention and best regards, Paula Michell, epm@octa4.net.au Thank you very much for your prompt answer. I always thought that Clarence was the eldest in your family, but my childhood memories betrayed me. Never mind, it was very nice to hear from you. Have just had a delightful hour looking at your contribution to internet and think it is very, very good. Intend to continue looking at it again tomorrow, but must admit that it was very hard to leave it today. Do hope you will keep up the publications and if I ever have anything to contribute will send it along. Particularly enjoyed Mrs McLaughlin's page as she taught me too! Have just spent another enjoyable half hour looking at the Chilex Weekly 2000 and am looking forward to seeing the September edition. I recognized a few faces on the Foreign School 1945? photograph and thought of two other people that could help in identifying more of the students. I will visit these persons towards the end of this year and will show them both prints I made off the screen. However, as prints are not very good and there are a lot of people to identify, perhaps a more effective way would be to make the photo interactive. Neither of the two people I will visit have computers, but access to a computer can easily be arranged. So, if in December you still need help in identifying the Foreign School 1945? students, I will be pleased to arrange an 'identification' session and pass on the information.
Regards to both of you, Subject: hi Date: Tue, 10 Aug 1999 12:40:15 -0600 From: gaston pasut You guys are doing a fantastic job, keep up the good work! By the way Chingolo and Manolo were the cobrador /chofer for the red bus that we all loved in Chuqui. Who was Rojo? Chao Tito .......
Me again. Now that we are all linked via this fantastic modern
technology perhaps some of the people would like to have a system
whereby they can communicate live in writing, I have ICQ and it allows
just that. I think we spoke of this once before but in any case the
address to download this program free of charge is www.mirabilis.com
The idea would be that if one is on line and one sees that someone else
who has ICQ is also on line one could say hi or whatever,
Thanks for a wonderful site and we look forward to hearing from old (and new) friends soon. Harrie and Michael Lerman Subject: Chilex Weekly Date: Mon, 12 Jul 1999 00:49:16 EDT From: PAMJPRICE@aol.com To: cmfisk@texas.net Dear Charles, Thanks so much! The website is great. Graciela has a great idea, and it seems to be taking off. Your e-mail to me came without repetition of your message and without the extra code that accompanies Graciela's messages. It did contain the complete text of my message to you, but perhaps that was intentional.
I am now encouraged to go through all my old photos! Subject: Very interesting.. Date: Mon, 09 Aug 1999 18:12:56 -0700 From: "Renee Cox" <2rcrca@home.com> To: "Elena & Charles Fisk" Hi, Charlie, Thanks for your prompt reply. For some reason, only your mirror site works for me. Oh, well, as long as it works... You all deserve a pat on the back. Very nice August issue. Were you able to open any of the versions of the encoded attachments I sent with the photo of our latest grandchild, our beautiful two-month old granddaughter, Alexandra Elise Lambert? If you forgot to try and dumped my letter, I'll never forgive you...just kidding. But I WILL send it again. And again. And again. And again...oh-oh, I go a little crazy with the "paste" button. So you might as well try, or the "Stalker Grandma" will get you. We have four other grandchildren and LOTS of pictures, so you may as well go quietly...er, give in. I'm trying to figure out how all this high-tech stuff works. Hard to believe such a short time ago (relatively) only huge corporations had computers, and THOSE filled up city blocks. Salut, as the French Canadians would say... Renee 2RCRCA@home.com Hi Grace! I think I can help you with several of the names in you list. Incidentally, yesterday I sopke to Quique Brain (he´s an MD). Somehow he had received the frist two newsletter you put out. He gave me photocopies, but I´d rather be on your mailing list!

Warm regards, Ricardo Cortes To: "Charlie Fisk" Hi Charlie Great to hear from you again!! I do indeed remember the club underneath of Johnny's house. So long ago, but the memories are good and are still fresh in my mind. I remember the trips to San Pedro with Dr. and Mrs Bradford and going to the movies in New Camp, bowling at the Chilex Club, playing golf on the coarse in the desert with the oiled sand greens. So many wonderful memories. My wife, Nellie and I retired in 1989 and moved here to Benton, New Hampshire from South Jersey in 1993. Nellie was my highschool sweetheart and we have been married for almost 43 years. We have four kids (all grown up, the oldest being 42 and the youngest 34) At last count, we have 11 blood grandchildren and 3 adopted grandchildren. Remembering all of the birthdays is a problem, but fortunately Nellie is in charge of that department. We love the serenity and laid back style of living that surrounds us here in New England. Quite a contrast from what we had experienced in New Jersey. Our house is located in the heart of the White Mountains and we would truly love to see you and your wife if you are ever of a mind to coming up this way. I have often wondered where Johnny was and how he is doing. I had heard that he lived in Katy, Texas. I think about him often and would sure love to hear from him. He was a good buddy and I always considered his mom and dad as my own parents too. I have been in touch with Tito Pasut and Charlie Styles. Old friends and classmates! In spite of the fact that so many years have gone by (50.. do you believe it) it is like I saw them last week. I have been receiving e-mail messages and Chuqui friend updates from Graciela Osterberg. What a wonderful job she is doing in re-uniting us old codgers from the Atacama. Charlie, great hearing from you again. I hope we can continue to talk. If you happen to get in touch with Johnny Bradford please tell him to get in touch with me. Saludos Richard Dickenson |
