It=B4s sad to see how everything we all love is = dissapearing underneath big dumps. I really hope this page will go on and on. I watch my daughters and = their feelings towards Chuqui are the same as ours. That's great, Chuqui = will allways be a very special place in all the hearts of whom sometime = lived there. From: "Bonnie Hamre" Subject: More people Date: Mon, 4 Jun 2001 19:09:16 -0700 Dear Charles, I've just sent you a note from a fellow with questions about Chuqui, and it made me think about more of the people I knew there. Loved the articles about Dr. Darricades, whom I remember with great fondness. Bobby Diamond is the unidentified guy in the photo with Renee, Marjorie and Alice. And, if I can remember that far back, I am in the background in the play picture with Renee. I think that is Jackie and Carmen MacArthur with us. I remember very clearly the year BJ Stanley, one of the teachers at the school, organized all the home-from-school teens and put on a murder mystery play. It was a great fun! I don't remember if this photo is from that play. I kept in touch a bit with BJ after she left Chuqui and was teaching in Pasadena, CA, but lost track of her after that. Doris Ross and Martha Holden, also teachers, taught in the Phoenix area while I was attending Arizona State, and we saw each other there. After that, I lost track of them. too. Does anyone know of them now? Speaking of teachers, didn't Cynthia Brown marry Joe Smith who taught at the school? Does anyone have any information about Marge Lavery Desi? I see the Pate family missing from your list. I can't remember all the daughter's names, but I remember Winnie Pate clearly. She was our honorary Tia Winnie. I see a number of Chuqui-ites either live in or have relatives in Califiornia. Wouldn't it be fun to stage an after-all-these-years reunion? Imagine the stories we'd have to tell! Saludos to all, Bonnie Taylor Hamre

We've never really considered living in Chile as things are very al lote there and in general people are sobrados and not very polite. The weather is terrible and if you live in Santiago the smog is terrible in the winter time, remember I just spent four long months there! In any case your decision of perhaps going down there for 3-4 months at a time is a good one although I think 3 months is way too long but then you guys know more people than we do. Lima has its attractions like any other city, it has old areas with narrow streets, a lot of poverty and I would be interested to know where you went that you called it sensacional. Guess that with all the years that we spent in Peru going to Lima meant work so we really didn't visit all the neat spots that it may have. Boy I am sounding negative with respect to both topics! Subject: FW: Paul Harvey Story Date: Thu, 28 Jun 2001 16:33:15 -0500 From: "Jones, Diana" djones@laquinta.com See if you can answer this puzzle. Here is a pretty neat little thing from Paul Harvey. See if you can guess the riddle at the end. Paul Harvey Writes: We tried so hard to make things better for our kids that we made them worse. For my grandchildren, I'd like better. I'd really like for them to know about hand me down clothes and homemade ice cream and leftover meat loaf sandwiches. I really would. I hope you learn humility by being humiliated, and that you learn honesty by being cheated. I hope you learn to make your own bed and mow the lawn and wash the car. And I really hope nobody gives you a brand new car when you are sixteen. It will be good if at least one time you can see puppies born and your old dog put to sleep. I hope you get a black eye fighting for something you believe in, I hope you have to share a bedroom with your younger brother. And it's all right if you have to draw a line down the middle of the room, but when he wants to crawl under the covers with you because he's scared, I hope you let him. When you want to see a movie and your little brother wants to tag along, I hope you'll let him. I hope you have to walk uphill to school with your friends and that you live in a town where you can do it safely. On rainy days when you have to catch a ride, I hope you don't ask your driver to drop you two blocks away so you won't be seen riding with someone as uncool as your Mom. If you want a slingshot, I hope your Dad teaches you how to make one instead of buying one. I hope you learn to dig in the dirt and read books. When you learn to use computers, I hope you also learn to add and subtract in your head. I hope you get teased by your friends when you have your first crush on a girl, and when you talk back to your mother that you learn what ivory soap tastes like. May you skin your knee climbing a mountain, burn your hand on a stove and stick your tongue on a frozen flagpole. I don't care if you try a beer once, but I hope you don't like it. And if a friend offers you dope or a joint, I hope you realize he is not your friend. I sure hope you make time to sit on a porch with your Grandpa and go fishing your Uncle. May you feel sorrow at a funeral and joy during the holidays. I hope your mother punishes you when you throw a baseball through your neighbor's window and that she hugs you and kisses you at Christmas time when you give her a plaster mold of your hand. These things I wish for you - tough times and disappointment, hard work and happiness. To me, it's the only way to appreciate life. Written with a pen. Sealed with a kiss. I'm here for you. And if I die before you do, I'll go to heaven and wait for you. We secure our friends, not by accepting favors, but by doing them. Paul Harvey NOW THE RIDDLE: When asked this riddle, 80% of kindergarten kids got the answer, compared to 17% of Stanford University seniors. What is greater than God, More evil than the devil, The poor have it, The rich need it, And if you eat it, you'll die? Send this to 10 people and then press shift and you will get the answer. P.S. You won't believe this, but this really does give you the answer!!!!

I know I have more but they are slides and I have many, many boxes. Most belonged to my parents. It is hard to see them since I do not have a projector. ----- Original Message ----- From: Charles Fisk To: Marcia Schwantes Sent: Tuesday, June 26, 2001 5:47 PM Subject: Re: Addresses Of People Who Once Lived In Chuquicamata HI! got the pictures, Elena and I went away to Hilton Head for five days (had a lot of fun)! Your photos are great, the ones of Dr. Bradford will be added in the July 7 issue as they fit in to perfection. It was a treat to see you looking so young and charming wow! Alice Peterson seems to keep her charming face; great to learn about Andrew; I do not know if he kept in contact with Joey Jenkins; she used to live close to us in Connecticut but then we lost contact as we left for NC and they left for Israel and eventually some place in CA. Her husband died quite suddenly is the last I knew. I will copy your pictures and send them right back, will take good care of them! Charlie
Subject: RE: reply Date: Thu, 28 Jun 2001 09:05:34 -0400 From: "Roman, Monica (contractor)" To: "'cmfisk@texas.net'" Good morning Charlie, I'd be delighted to help in any way with the site. Tell me more about Chuquichat and maybe send me the code...so I can see what we are talking about. I have a few ideas about navigation too, but I'd like to hear from you first what the architecture behind the site looks like. So, lay it out for me please! :) You wouldn't know my dad I guess, since he moved to Chuqui in 65. He said that "chico Fisk" was Clarence Fisk...would be in his mid-60s now. I'll dig for the pictures and send them to you. Talk to you soon, Monica From: cmfisk@texas.net [mailto:cmfisk@texas.net] Sent: Tuesday, June 26, 2001 6:04 AM To: RomanM@MTMC.ARMY.MIL Subject: reply Hi Monica, you have an interesting story to tell; I will publish it in the issue after this one. I see you develop databases which is VERYYYY interesting. I too am a computer guy and work at USAA in San Antonio doing Actuarial programming using APL. I also do a lot of web stuff. It would be nice to work with you on the web site perhaps we can push it to new heights. I am not very good at data bases but as a first challenge we may want to improve our Chuquichat system. Anyhow let me know what you would like to do to help. I lived in Chuqui from 1940 to 1956, I do not recall your dad but if you can refresh my memory a little... Charlie.
