Ian Davidson This article should have been published two years ago!
Ian was one of my childhood friends, we went to the Foreign School together and lived in neighboring houses (TIPO C 711-5 and 711-1). Other members of these "gunnies" are Harold and George Lambeth, Tito Pasut, Reggie Chellew, Johnny Bradford, the Morton Brothers, the Alvears, Richard Dickenson and those wonderful girls that made us return to Chuqui every school vacation: Cynthia Brown, Marjorie Fish, Barbara Dickenson, Mary Lou Key, Irene Darricades, Monica Brain, Olga Olsen, Chi Chi Alvear, Pamela Chellew... well I have to stop or I will fill this article with names that you can all find in the Chuquichat page.
One of the best memories of those 1950's have to do with the Saturday night dances; we would all meet in someone's house; everybody properly dressed in their finest, and we would dance to the tunes of the bands of the 50's. We all treasure the memories of those magical days!
Ian's mother worked in the old hospital lab. Continue
FORGIVE OUR ERRORS
Please forgive this issues' delay and also any errors or omissions, if something has been left out please write and I will try to make the correction.
Graciela Osterberg The founder of our team has decided to step down as editor of the Chilex Weekly 2000 because of the heavy workload that a new job and new surroundings have imposed on her. Hopefully, after a short "getting adjusted period" she may decide to return to her position at the helm of Chilex Weekly 2000.
We are all extremely grateful for her insight; as some of you know it all started with "El Noticiero", that she wrote, published and mailed all over the world, at her own expense.
I was very proud to work with this intelligent and charming woman, her sensitivity and warmth is something few can match.
I pray that she will return to us and bring this effort to the heights she envisioned.
I will continue with the tradition she established hoping to carry out her vision that keeps us all together.
Charles

Letters to the editor

Letterhead Logo of Chile Exploration Company The mine we knew must continue to grow and the price we pay is the loss of the past which is now covered by mountains of crushed stone. It is important that we document the history of the Chuquicamata that we all knew. This installment, the first of a series, displays a map of the "Campamento Americano". Continue

Joan Horwood In 1959 I was sent to Santiago to a boarding school from which I graduated in 1964. I then returned to Chuqui for eight months before going off in August of 1965 to Loretto Heights College in Denver, Colorado. During that time I worked in the physical therapy department of the Roy H. Glover Hospital where I had a great time and learned a great deal.
